Top Left - Bacon County 4-H annually hosts Cloverleaf District Project Achievement. Over 15 counties from our district come to participate as young people showcase their knowledge and passion in front of a judge. This is a great experience for youth in grades 4-6 to explore their interests and take away some valuable skills for later in life.

Top Right -Bacon County 4-H and FFA host an annual market hog and steer show in February where local participants demonstrate their skills in the show ring.? Open to grades 3-12, these individuals learn responsiblilty as they care for their animals throughout the year before competing in showmanship and weight classes with their animals.?

Middle Left -? 4-H'ers from around the district joined together at Camp Burton on Tybee Island for Cloverleaf Summer Camp on Tybee Island. These youth were able to experience the sights and sounds of the coastal region while making new friends and and learning about the region.?

Middle Right - We don't take a break in the summer! Events like this one, 4-H Day at the Atlanta Braves, keeps our members active and on-the-go all summer long.?

Bottom Left -Our middle school 4-H'ers aren't left out when it comes to camp; these youth participated in Wilderness Challenge Camp and took advantage of white water rafting during this week in north Georgia where they learned about wilderness survival skills.? 4-H Camps are available for youth from 4th -12th grades.?

Botton Right - In 2024-2025, our cooking class took a journey around the world with cooking. Each month they learned something about another culture or country and were able to prepare and snack on a native treat. From sushi to Navajo tacos, these clubs were packed with flavor!

4-H Programs

Bacon County 4-H offers a variety of programs for kids of all ages. For more information, please contact the Bacon County Extension Office.

-Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging?-?competitive Judging contest where 4-H’ers learn about cotton as an agriculture commodity in our state as well as to promote cotton through commercials or PSA’s (public service announcements). 4-H’ers gain skills in making rational decisions when purchasing goods and services while maximizing resources.

-Project Achievement?-?self-directed individual competition including presentations and, when age appropriate, a documented record of project work, leadership and service based on experiential learning activities.? Project Achievement helps 4-H'ers develop effective public speaking skills,? self-confidence, and social skills, as well as learn time management.? In 2024-2025 school year, Bacon County 4-H had 18 4-H'ers participate in Project Achievement from 4th through 12th grade.? 4-H'ers in grades 9-12 can earn a trip to State Congress by placing first in their project area.?

  • Cloverleaf Project Achievement (4th-6th grade) - compete at District level in the Spring of 2026. If you're interested, stop by the office to pick out a project area, and we will help you with your speech and posters!
  • Junior Project Achievement (7th & 8th grade) - compete at District level February 2026. Portfolio, picture page, speeches, and posters need to be completed by December 23, 2025.?
  • Senior Project Achievement (9th-12th grade) -?compete at District level? February 2026 for a chance to advance to the state competition known as State Congress. Portfolio, picture page, speeches, and posters need to be completed by December 23, 2025.

?Come by the office to pick out a project area, work on your portfolio, and prepare your speech and posters.

-Poultry Judging?-?an evaluation event in which students learn and understand standards used in poultry and egg production and marketing, and to apply the standards in a realistic decision-making situation. Poultry Judging Area Competitions are held each Spring.?

-SAFE Shooting Sports?- Georgia 4-H participates in a program called Project SAFE (Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education)?involves youth in a life skills program that teaches safe and responsible use of firearms including sound decision-making, self-discipline and concentration. Bacon County currently has? Archery, BB, and Shotgun teams for the 2025-2026 program year. Call the office if you are interested in this awesome opportunity.?

-Livestock Program?- offers many opportunities for 4-Her's to exhibit market hogs, market goats, dairy cattle, and beef cattle throughout the state.

-Summer Camp?-?Every camp offers great adventure, friendship and fun, and all seek to engage the camper's Head, Heart, Hands and Health to provide a positive youth development experience. Scholarships and fundraising opportunities available. Contact our office for more information.

4-H Resources

County offices promote and coordinate 4-H summer camp experiences unlike any other in the county. Counties travel to unique 4-H centers across the state offering fun, friendship and adventure for over 8,000 4-H'ers each summer.
The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program is one of the nation’s largest and oldest providers of local environmental education, serving over 45,000 people annually. The research-based curriculum provides hands-on learning experiences aligned with Georgia Performance Standards.
The Georgia 4-H Livestock Program gives students the opportunity to practice and acquire new knowledge in the fields of animal science, business, time management and leadership.
This core program showcases the work and success of 4-H'ers through presentations and portfolios on numerous topics. Members compete against their peers at the local, district and state levels in an effort to master their project.
The Georgia 4-H Foundation relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to help coordinate and organize yearly alumni & friends events. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, read more about becoming a volunteer at the Georgia 4-H website.
