海角官方首页 Extension Fayette County is a partnership of 海角官方首页, Fayette County Government, Fort Valley State University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It exists to serve all the people of Fayette County including Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, Brooks, and in between.

Mission

Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

Oct 17 2025 Fayette County Master Naturalist Program (Full; Waitlist only) Fayetteville, GA We will be offering the Master Naturalist Program this Fall in Fayette County! This 8-week program is for individuals who are interested in participating in hands-on outdoor activities, learning more about our natural world, and understanding our impact on our environmental resources. The Georgia Master Naturalist program provides hands-on environmental education that explores habitats and ecosystems in Georgia and human impacts on those environments. The program is delivered in a series of weekly sessions customized to local habitats such as swamps, ponds, rivers, wetlands, mountains, forests, farms, and urban landscapes depending on your County Extension location. After completing this fun and interactive program, Georgia Master Naturalists are encouraged to share their knowledge with their communities by volunteering in local schools or nature centers. This program can provide staff development credits for teachers and others.
Oct 21 Phalaenopsis Orchids Fayetteville, GA Orchids have different care requirements. In this class, we will focus on the Phalaenopsis Orchid and share tips and tricks to care for this wonderful plant. Feel free to bring one of yours with you for orchid advice.

Oct 28 Carnivorous Plants Fayetteville, GA Carnivorous plants are a fascinating group of plants that absorb nutrients from insects by trapping them. In this program, you will learn more about how these plants trap their prey, the specific requirements needed for them to thrive, and create your own mini bog garden to take home. This program is limited to 15 participants. Cost is $25.

Nov 3 Terrarium Treasures: Creating Miniature Indoor Gardens Fayetteville, GA Participants will explore indoor plant care by constructing their own terrariums. They will learn about the essential needs of plants, including soil, water, and light, and then apply this knowledge to create a miniature, self-contained ecosystem to take home. This hands-on workshop will be led by our own Certified Fayette County Master Garden Extension Volunteer, Charlane Hemphill.
Nov 18 Prepare for Spring by Winter Sowing Fayetteville, GA Let's prepare for spring by winter sowing native purple coneflower and butterfly weed! In this hands-on workshop, homeowners will gain knowledge about native plants and be taught the technique of winter sowing, which involves exposing seeds to cold conditions outdoors to mimic natural stratification. They will also learn how to construct an outdoor growing container specifically designed to facilitate the cold stratification process for seeds that require it, allowing them to germinate successfully come spring. Bring garden gloves.
Dec 9 Holiday Blooms: Growing Bulbs Inside for a Colorful Season Fayetteville, GA Bring the magic of the garden indoors this holiday season! This workshop delves into the art of growing bulbs inside, focusing on the ideal soil composition, watering strategies, and light exposure that will bring these festive blooms to life in your home. This program will be led by our own Certified Fayette County Master Garden Extension Volunteer Charlane Hemphill.
Dec 19 Holiday Arrangements Fayetteville, GA In this hands-on workshop, make your own holiday centerpiece using natural elements. Bring your own vase (B.Y.O.V.) and pruners.
