Agriculture & Natural Resources

Based on the 2023 Georgia Farm Gate Value Report, Wilkes County agriculture contributed over $187 million to the state economy.

Wilkes County Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) programming aims to use unbiased, research-based information and recommendations to provide agricultural assistance to both producers and homeowners. ANR Agents can assist on a variety of different topics, including but not limited to:

  • Soil testing and management
  • Pond and fish management
  • Livestock management (cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses, poultry, etc.)
  • Well water management and testing
  • General water testing, bacterial testing, lead/radon testing
  • Pasture and forage management
  • Hay and row crop production
  • ?Pathogen and pest identification or information (insects, plant disease, etc.)
  • Horticulture (fruit, vegetable, ornamental)

Your ANR agent can provide recommendations and resources via in-office consultations, on-site evaluations, and by phone or email.
