Our Impact
Making A Difference in Our County
University of Georgia Cooperative Extension is working hard for its constituents. The following are examples of Extension’s impact in the county over the past year.
Throughout the year, the Jasper County ANR agent collaborated with the local Farm Bureau office to offer a series of gardening programs at the senior center. A Hay Forage School field day was held to address forage management and to help farmers improve their hay production and quality. A Beef Quality Assurance course provided area producers with in-depth training. A total of 149 individual club members in the 4th–12th grades participated in a variety of 4-H competitions and educational events including consumer and poultry judging teams, public speaking, shooting sports, summer activities and camps. Many were honored for their achievements at the district and state levels. Four were selected to serve as district officers, and 14 attended teen leader training.
