Towns-Union MGEV Community Garden Projects:

The Towns-Union Master Gardener Extension Volunteers work within the community to make both beautiful and educational gardens for the public.?Towns and Union County Master Gardener Extension volunteers support organizations across the communities we serve to enhance public spaces for more enjoyment of our beautiful landscapes. With dozens of active community projects, our volunteers can be found planting new gardens, often including native regional plantings, or supporting nationwide projects such as the Daffodil Project or the Great Southeast Pollinator Census.

Market Garden

The Market Garden (AKA Gold Medal Garden) is located at the Old Smokey Rd entrance to the Union County Farmers Market. The Market Garden ?is planted with different varieties of plants and aims to educate the community on which plants grow good in our area and what time of year they bloom.

Lloyd's Landing

Currently over a million daffodils have been planted across our nation, supporting children suffering around the world, including those who perished in the Holocaust. Towns and Union County Master Gardener Volunteers have enhanced these beautiful gardens with hundreds of perennial daffodils to continue these special humanitarian efforts. Don’t miss our spring daffodils at Lloyd’s Landing in Towns County and Meeks Park in Blairsville.

Pollinator and Rain Garden at Cupid Falls

The Pollinator and Rain Garden is located at Cupid Falls, just behind YHC in Young Harris. The main goal of the Rain Garden is to collect runoff from the road and parking lot before it gets to the creek located behind the garden. It is also a great way to include pollinator and native plants into the landscape!

We also have community gardens located at:

  • Union County Public Library
  • Towns County Extension Office
  • Beasley Knob
  • Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center
